Update!

Well my body seems to be resisting marathon training! As soon as it realises that this is going to happen & just give in & let me train things will be much easier!!! My mind is willing to train everyday but my body is not, must be the old age. Since last update I have been on leave from work, however this resulted in man flu on the first day off so I had no training for a couple of days!!!

Now over my man flu & in the last 5 days I have completed 2 x 12km runs & a strength training gym session plus a 45 min interval run & it now appears I have strained a knee ligament!! I really hope I can still do my long steady run this wkend as I missed out last weekend with flu...............

Hopefully 2010 will bring new found muscles & I can really get into some more mileage, watch this space!

The Blue Cross http://www.bluecross.org.uk/ need my help and I need yours to hit my target visit http://www.justgiving.com/Ian-kelly to donate so we can produce a usable contribution to the charity

Update!

Hello

Another week down & more miles in the bank! Did around 23 miles this week with additional work in the gym where it is much dryer & warmer than being outside!

I am definitely making steady progress towards the marathon as I managed to complete a 2 hour + run earlier without stopping that produced around 14-15 miles, it must have been the cold, wind & rain that pushed me around faster!

This week will be tough as I am off to Belfast for a working trip but I am still targeting 25 miles so hopefully I can put in a good training run whilst in NI.

Update!

Hello,

Nearly December now & the London Marathon will soon be here :), I need all the support I can get in my quest to help The Blue Cross http://www.bluecross.org.uk/ and to hit my target http://www.justgiving.com/Ian-kelly

I have made good training progress this week as I seem to be shaking off my tendon strain & I put in a solid 18 miles on two separate visits to Dortmund around the Westfalen park area, plus a training session at the gym! This weekend will be a 8-10mile effort so all in all 27 miles this week & a gym session will be good progress!

I have now though got kitted out to tackle the winter with running tights that are super tight.....they seem to generate quite a bit of interest when out & about in them but they keep me warm!

Must post up a pic of the new tights................

First Post

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I will be posting updates here on my training & fundraising progress so check back regularly!

I have this week sorted out the just giving web page & my fundraising has finally got off the ground so please add any donations at http://www.justgiving.com/Ian-kelly

I am raising money for The Blue Cross www.bluecross.org.uk to support the excellent work they do with pets & animals so all donations will be gratefully received and will be put to good use at the charity!

Well my first week of 'official' marathon training & I already have a tight Achilles Tendon, I have only run 10miles so far this week!! Not great progress hopefully it will heal in time for the weekend so I can put a decent long run in!

I hope you'll follow me on my training and I'll keep you updated along the way
